"To foster a better world — a world that doesn’t discriminate based on race, gender, sexual identity, physical appearance, religion or abilities — a world that is inclusive — a world that treats everyone equally — a world that recognizes and accepts each individual for who they are — a world where everyone feels like they belong."
Painting by Daniel Pike and Kristina Desormeaux
The Katie Macdonald Foundation for a Better World was established in 2021 to honour Katie and her passion for social justice and her dream for a more inclusive society.
Katie was just shy of her 17th birthday when she died in May 2021. She was deeply troubled by the terrible inequity she saw in the world. Katie had a heartfelt desire for a better world - one without discrimination against individuals simply because of their race, gender, sexual identity, religion, abilities or appearance.
The Foundation honours her memory by aspiring to make the world better by focusing on efforts that broaden our children's minds and hearts. We believe that a more compassionate world will lead to better mental health for our youth.
