About Us

We were blessed with two wonderful children, Katie and Charlie. We were living the dream. But then on May 10th, 2021, our dream was shattered to pieces. Katie died by suicide, just weeks before her 17th birthday. Many complicated factors contributed to this horrible and irreversible day, but she was deeply troubled by the social injustice she saw in the world, inundated with negativity through social media during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Katie Macdonald Foundation for a Better World was established to honour Katie's memory, to remember her and her sincere desire for a better world - a world in which everyone feels like they belong and treats one another with kindness, compassion and fairness.
